Protection Island is home to North America's only floating pub - the Dinghy Dock Pub. Newcastle Island is rich in history, hiking and walking trails, interpretive programs, great beaches, picnic and camping sites. Loyal Nanaimo Bathtub Society presents....
World Championship Bathtub Festival and Race July 24- 25th 2010
Nanaimo's most famous and favourite annual Marine Festival cheers on international bathtub racers as they go head to head in a fun-filled, action-packed and water-logged race on the high seas of the Georgia Straight. Spread over three days, the festival includes local musicians, childrens activities, Bartending Competition, and Fireworks Saturday night! The race itself takes place at 11am Sunday morning.

Happening frequently in summer months, Nanaimo hosts a myriad of musicians Sunday evenings at 6pm. These are free, family friendly events a short walk from Travelodge Nanaimo. Take a picnic and enjoy dinner in the park while listening to blues, jazz, childrens, or classical music.
